Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about planning poker, story points, and our free online estimation tool.

What is planning poker?
Planning poker is an agile estimation technique where team members vote on story points using cards. Votes are revealed at the same time to encourage discussion and avoid anchoring. It's commonly used in Scrum for sprint planning.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Story Point Poker works without signup. Create a session, share the code, and your team can join. No account, no credit card.
Is it free?
Yes. The tool is free to use. For teams that want a white-label version with custom branding and their own domain, we offer enterprise options.
Does it work with Jira?
You can use Story Point Poker alongside Jira. Run your estimation session, agree on story points, then add them to your Jira tickets. We don't integrate directly with Jira, but the workflow works well.
Is it good for remote teams?
Yes. It was built for distributed agile teams. Everyone joins via browser—no installation. Real-time updates keep everyone in sync.
What are story points?
Story points measure relative complexity of work items. They're abstract units (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8) that help teams estimate without committing to exact hours. See our guide on story points.
What card values do you use?
We use the Fibonacci sequence: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21. Plus ? for uncertainty and ☕ for break or clarification needed.
Can I use it for sprint planning?
Yes. Many teams use it during sprint planning or backlog refinement. Create a session, estimate your stories, then add the points to your backlog.
